Ice Hotel
An ice hotel is a temporary hotel made up of snow, sculpted blocks of ice, and, in some cases, some steel framing. They are promoted by their sponsors and have special features for travelers who are interested in novelties and unusual environments, and thus are in the class of destination hotels. Their lobbies are often filled with ice sculptures, and food and beverages are specially chosen for the circumstances.
All of the ice hotels are reconstructed every year, and are dependent upon constant sub-freezing temperatures during construction and operation. The walls, fixtures, and fittings are made entirely of ice or compacted snow, and are held together using a substance known as snice, which takes the place of mortar in a traditional brick-built hotel.
Increase computer speed
Why not increase your computer speed rather than feeling frustrated to see yourself lagging whenever you do something on your computer? Files may be taking too long to load; software's may take eons to open and so forth. These can be highly disruptive and result in a lot of time wastage. Not to mention all the pain caused by the constant hair pulling. Fortunately there are ways to increase computer speed and performance. Some of these tips are included below.
The first and foremost thing to know is that the choice of operating system plays a huge role in the performance of a computer. Choosing the best operating system is definitely going to improve your computer speed. Some operating systems are just more capable of carrying more load than others. By gathering more information about the various operating systems and their own versions, you can find a suitable one. But it is also important to note that certain operating systems have problems running certain softwares and so you will have to consider your needs as well. Partitioning your disks will also help your operating system to find data quickly.
Defragmenting the disks also helps to increase computer speed by a substantial amount. Every time you create a new folder or save files or move them, your hard disk will get more fragmented. Due to this the computer speed slowly starts to go slower and slower. Using the disk defragmentation tool, you can defragment your data to improve the performance of your computer. Using this option every 2 weeks or so will prove to be very handy in the long run.
Clean your hard disks from time to time to remove any temporary data that still might be there. This can be very useful when you have several GB’s of data getting IN and OUT of your hard disk every now and then. These files may exist in your C drive or in the recycle bin and certain large files may take up a lot of space and decrease your computer speed. There are various free software's such as Disk Cleaner, C-Cleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, etc… available for removing such files and thereby increase your computer speed. Also if you don’t mind having a normal visual screen, you can remove all the fancy visual effects and keep only the ones you need.
Another important trick is to always keep your C drive from getting cluttered with movies, songs and other data that is required to be there. Keep all such files in a different drive. Many people often keep a lot of their media files and other heavy data files in the C drive which results in the low performance and speed of the computer. Also keep a checkout for viruses and scan your computer at regular intervals to remove spywares and viruses.
There is also another way to increase computer speed , Overclocking It is risky, but it’s a great way of improving a computer’s speed. Still, there are a lot of programs that can help with registry clean-ups.
New Google Maps: Offline Mobile Access, Improved 3D
According to a report, the Google Maps team of the search giant just announced three new technologies yesterday that will create intricate and elaborate replicas of the real world detailed in a form of realism that no other mapping diagrams has ever done before.
The Google Maps team introduced three notable hi-tech features in Google Earth, including a feature to save offline maps in the Android Maps app, advanced 3D models of entire cities in Google Earth, and a new Android-controlled "Street View Trekker" backpack for capturing Street View images where bikes, cars and planes can't go.
These new mapping enhancements will be part of the next Google Earth feature set, giving people the ability to explore the world in a 45 degree dimension only possible via a live plane ride.
Google apparentlyused real planes flying back and forth around cities of the world to carefully calculate dimensions and models of cities the team have photographed and enhanced in 3D aspect. This process then results in an entire 3D replica of city structures set in a 45 degree aerial display.
As Google continues to push the limits of their mapping capabilities to the boundaries of reproducing 100 percent exact scale of the world's face, it's expected that people will no longer leave the comforts of their home to explore the entire Earth.
An app called Google Earth and Tour Guide is available in Google Play that'll let people explore the world altogether. The new Google Earth is coming to both Android and iOS devices very soon.
"By the end of the year we aim to have 3D coverage for metropolitan areas with a combined population of 300 million people."
Six Million LinkedIn Passwords Leaked
LinkedIn is the social network of choice for business professionals around the world. They will be alarmed by news released today that over 6 million passwords from the site were leaked onto the web recently.
The social network is investigating the claims that over 6 million of its users passwords were published onto a Russian hacker website.
Norwegian IT website Dagens IT reported the breach, with 6.5 million encrypted passwords posted to the Russian hacker site. Security researcher Per Thorsheim has also confirmed reports via his Twitter feed, stating that the attackers have posted the encrypted passwords to request help cracking them.
Finnish security firm CERT-FI is warning that whilst user details have not been posted, it is believed that the attackers will have access to user data as well as their passwords.
LinkedIn tweeted earlier today that their team is currently investigating the report, but have not released an official statement yet.
LinkedIn, which has over 150 million users, has not released a formal statement, but tweeted: "Our team is currently looking into reports."
Initial reports suggest that as many as 300,000 passwords have already been UN-encrypyted, and security experts are encouraging users to update their passwords immediately.
The site has over 150 million users, so the security breach effects less than 10% of its users, but nevertheless this should not be underestimated.
